Ave Maria

Ave Maria is a prayer of praise, trust, and intercession addressed to the Virgin Mary.
Its first part comes directly from Scripture—the angel Gabriel’s greeting and Elizabeth’s blessing—
while the second part is a humble request, asking Mary to pray for us in our lives and at the hour of death.

At its heart, the Hail Mary is not only a prayer to Mary, but a prayer with Mary.

"Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
 Blessed art thou among women,
 and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. 
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
 pray for us sinners,
 now and at the hour of our death.
 Amen."
